Reviving the Traditional Chopal: Farmer Clubs in Uttar Pradesh
Sonalika CSR has revived the traditional chopal concept by forming farmer clubs in 40 panchayats across five districts of Uttar Pradesh. These clubs facilitate the exchange of agricultural best practices, helping farmers increase yield and reduce costs.
AEP (Unnang): Transforming Agriculture in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh
Through the Kisan Vikas Project, we have collaborated with 3,000 farmers from 60 villages across three states. Initiatives such as introducing better-quality paddy seeds have increased yields by 40%, while the Wadi Savardhan program has helped farmers generate supplementary income through fruit and vegetable cultivation.
Empowering Women: Custom Hiring Centers and Seed Banks
In five districts of Uttar Pradesh, women-run Custom Hiring Centers (CHCs) provide easy access to farm equipment, becoming a significant source of income for women. Seed banks have evolved into women-led seed conservation companies, significantly increasing their incomes.
Water Conservation: Rainwater Harvesting in Rajasthan
To combat water scarcity, we renovated head pumps in 20 villages across Madhya Pradesh and constructed a rainwater harvesting tank in Rajasthan, collecting over 2 lakh liters of water annually and benefiting more than 300 families.
Promoting Organic Farming: Vermicompost and Azolla Units
Farmers are encouraged to adopt organic farming through the establishment of vermicompost plants and Azolla units, reducing fertilizer costs and increasing yields. This initiative has also helped dairy farmers cut fodder costs by 50%.
AGRO Solution
Sonalika introduced the “Sonalika Agro Solutions” app in 2021 to help small farmers rent essential farm equipment and tractors. This app has transformed the way farmers access machinery, significantly increasing productivity. In the last three years, over 5,000 pieces of equipment have been rented, benefiting more than 14,000 small farmers in Uttar Pradesh.
Women's Well-Being: Hygiene and Mental Health Initiatives
Sonalika CSR has launched significant initiatives focusing on women's hygiene and mental health. These programs aim to provide essential hygiene products and mental health support to women, particularly in rural and underserved areas.
